ETIENNE BARDELLI

ETIENNE BARDELLI

Akroe, artist and
designer graphic

Etienne Bardelli, aka Akroe, is a French artist and graphic designer. He was born in 1977 and works in Paris. His approach has a strong focus on industrial design which can be seen in his production’s mechanisms and illusions. He was trained in applied art and he uses this knowledge in his personnal productions : his installations, paintings and photographs.  Bardelli’s work has been exhibited in France and abroad. He recently produced monumental installations and exposed for several French cultural institutes like the « Nuit Blanche » 2010 and 2011 in Metz, the « Musée des Arts Décoratifs » in Paris and the « Centre Pompidou- Metz ».

Etienne Bardelli has developed a singular, meticulous graphic vocabulary as you can see on this set of tableware, a creation that combines mechanical graphic design with Limoges porcelain finesse. The gradient patterns’ architecture is conscientiously fragmented to create an under tension graphic design. The spherical and fragmented composition is structured by several thin black geometrical shapes from various sizes and spaces in order to create subtle shades of light. The deliberately minimal black inking is screenprinted on the precious white enamel to increase the contrast.
