JEAN-BAPTISTE COUTY

JEAN-BAPTISTE COUTY

After an initial four years learning woodworking in Limoges, Jean-Baptiste Couty studied design then architecture in Bordeaux. His will through his work is not to segment disciplines, thoughts, visions.

His ambition lies somewhere between product design and architecture, two disciplines he finds hard to differentiate. The only distinction he can find is one of scale, defending the notion of transversality between scales. He cannot decide whether it is more complicated to design a table lamp or a building…

For him, porcelain is a material with great potential in different fields : with the MOLE HILL table lamps Jean-Baptiste Couty keeps this fine line between the work of the hand, the design, and the architecture.
